Charles's Plates

2015

I took part in Charles Rittmann's artwork that depicts native animals and plants that are disappearing from Brooklyn's Newtown Creek area, which was once the most contaminated body of water in the North America.  I made ten plates in a various shape and size as a blank canvas for him to draw on. I assisted him in choosing materials and methods to create blue drawings to resemble transfer ware. After he made the drawings I glazed the plates in a clear glaze and fired them in an electric kiln.

Project specs: ten wheel-thrown plates with drawings done by the artist. They come in various sizes and shapes in porcelain and white stoneware.
